Rx Firocoxib Chewable Tablets are a veterinary prescription non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) designed to control pain and inflammation in dogs. This medication is commonly used to manage osteoarthritis or to reduce discomfort and swelling associated with soft-tissue and orthopedic surgeries, such as spays or cruciate ligament repair.

Osteoarthritis is a degenerative joint condition caused by “wear and tear” of cartilage and other joint structures, which can result in limping, stiffness, difficulty climbing stairs, or decreased activity. Firocoxib helps improve mobility and comfort, allowing your dog to maintain a more active lifestyle. For surgical applications, your veterinarian may administer Firocoxib before a procedure and recommend continued treatment for a few days postoperatively to manage pain and inflammation.

Directions:

• Provide the Client Information Sheet with prescription
• Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration needed
• Recommended dosage: 2.27 mg/lb (5 mg/kg) once daily for osteoarthritis; 3 days for postoperative pain and inflammation
• Can be administered approximately two hours before surgery
• Tablets can be given with or without food
• Scored tablets allow dosing in half-tablet increments

Cautions and Warnings:

• Do not use in dogs with known hypersensitivity to firocoxib
• Not for human use; keep out of reach of children
• Accidental ingestion by humans requires consultation with a physician
• Not accurately dosed in dogs under 12.5 lbs
• NSAIDs may cause renal, gastrointestinal, or hepatic toxicity
